Flexibility, Durability Top List of Hub Requirements
Students gravitate to hubs—spaces like cafes, lounges, and libraries where they can work together and socialize. According to our research of design professionals, the most important requirements for furniture in hub spaces are flexibility and durability, in that order. Respondents also said that access to Wi-Fi and power are high on the list for the hub spaces they’re creating. It’s all driven by the reasons colleges are creating these spaces: primarily to support collaboration/group work, computer use, and interaction/socialization, in that order.
